And above all things have fervent love for one another, for “love will cover a multitude of sins.” (1 Peter 4:8)
One of the nuns of the convent of St Abu Seifein relate: Mother Erene, together with her dear friend, the great Martyr Abu Seifein, protects the convent. I will tell you an incident that happened at the end of one day, as I heard it from Mother: The convent was almost empty except for a few workers who were finishing some work. Mother was praying in her cell, when all of a sudden her heart was heavy. She prayed to God and said, ‘God, there is something wrong in the convent.’
She found herself in the Church of the Martyr St. Demiana, a church in the convent; it was about 7 pm. All the lights of the church were switched off except for a very faint light. At the mosaic picture of St. Demiana, she saw Mr. X holding the church’s money box: he was taking the big money and returning the small one.
She told him, ‘Mr. X, why did you not tell me that you needed money? I would have given you.’ The man quickly started to empty his pocket and to return the money to the box. But then she told him, ‘You can keep the money. But do not do that again; otherwise God and His martyr will be upset. You have to go to a priest and confess what you did for the salvation of your soul.’ That night Mother gave him a sum of money which turned into a monthly payment that he receives until this very day.
